2023 SF2M Ouest Thematic Day – in situ and under operating conditions measurements – Saint-Nazaire – April, 6 2023

The 2023 Thematic Day of the West section of SF2M, in situ and under operating conditions measurements, organized by the GeM will take place on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at IUT of Saint-Nazaire.
This new edition will be devoted to the presentation of results either related to in situ or under operating conditions (i.e. in service) monitoring or offering a coupling between experimental tests and modeling. Its main objective will be to bring together the actors of the west of France around studies of materials under mechanical, thermal, thermomechanical, electrical, chemical, electrochemical loading, etc. The discussions will touch many fields of material science and their industrial applications.
This day will provide an opportunity for manufacturers to present the problems they are currently facing and to discuss solutions through existing or innovative approaches.
This event is therefore directed at all communities in terms of materials (metallic, polymers, composites, ceramics, biomaterials, etc.) or loading (electrical, mechanical, chemical, thermal, etc.). It covers many fields of application (naval, aeronautical, automotive, energy, etc.) and will highlight some ongoing lack of experimental data necessary for the understanding of particular phenomena or the advent of some modelling.
The oral presentations will be complemented by time of exchange between industrialists, PhD students, and academics through two dedicated poster sessions. These will also be an opportunity to discuss the scientific challenges highlighted in order to address practical problems and to consider instrumental and numerical solutions currently available or under development. It will also enable to discuss opportunities for PhD students or engineers, or to establish the beginnings of partnerships within the SF2M federative network.
As in previous editions, the program consists of invited oral communications and poster sessions. There is an opportunity to submit 1 abstract to contribute to the poster sessions.
The day will end with the presentation of the Arnaud Metsue Master award of 500€, which rewards the excellence of the achieved academic results and research work, as well as the best poster award of 200€.
