Soukaina Riad, PhD student at GeM under the supervision of Julien Réthoré, CNRS Senior Researcher, received the CSMA 2022 Poster Prize for her poster on the subject of “Lifetime of structures” at the 15th National Conference on Structural Computations – CSMA 2022 which was held in Giens from May 16 to 20.
See the awarded poster untitled “Prise en compte des effets de la microstructure en fissuration”
Soukaina’s work proposes two independent approaches to take into account the effects of microstructure in the complex fracture process in metallic materials : i) an implicit approach by introducing an internal length of the Cosserat media (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.engfracmech.2022.108399) and ii) an explicit approach by taking into account the polycrystalline microstructure (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.finel.2021.103555).
Both approaches are studied with the phase field fracture method.
