Le Pr Jonathan Fannin, actuellement professeur invité au GeM au sein de l’équipe Interactions Eau-Géomatériaux, donnera un séminaire le jeudi 20 octobre 2016 à 14h30 à l’IUT de Saint Nazaire (bâtiment 17), afin de présenter ses travaux.

“Dam safety risk management – understanding internal erosion in earth dams”

Mechanisms of internal erosion in earth dams are described within the context of dam safety risk management. The state-of-practice is then reported, along with a description of knowledge gaps and some opportunities for university-industry collaborative research. Details are reported of ongoing laboratory and field research at the University of British Columbia, in partnership with BC Hydro. The objective of the research partnership is to advance our understanding of internal erosion, and thereby reduce uncertainty in dam safety risk management.
